Privacy policy

PageEcho · Updated October 11, 2026

Your learning material is stored on your device. PageEcho does not require an account or send your library to a server operated by The Rainy Studio.

Who this policy covers

PageEcho is an iPhone app from The Rainy Studio. This policy covers the app and its companion widget. The final section describes this support website.

What stays on your device

PageEcho stores the material you choose to keep: recognized and edited text, source titles and cover images, saved words and sentences, translations, notes, examples, review history, settings and saved source recordings. These support your library, playback and practice.

Practice recordings use temporary storage. A new take replaces the previous take, and resetting the practice removes that take. Recordings you deliberately save as a source remain in your library until you delete them.

How language features work

Camera text recognition uses Apple Vision on your device. Reading aloud uses installed Apple speech voices. Translation uses Apple’s Translation framework. Speech transcription and pronunciation checks use on-device speech recognition when the language is supported; PageEcho does not fall back to uploading your audio for server recognition.

On compatible devices, explanations and examples use Apple’s on-device Foundation Models framework. Availability depends on Apple Intelligence settings and language support. Generated explanations may be inaccurate and can be edited.

Apple may need an internet connection to download voices or language models. Those downloads and Apple’s system services are governed by Apple’s privacy policy.

Permissions are your choice

  • Camera: requested when you scan text.
  • Microphone: requested when you record audio or practice speaking.
  • Speech recognition: requested where required by Apple’s speech recognition framework.
  • Photos and files: you choose specific items through the system pickers; PageEcho does not require access to your entire photo library.
  • Notifications: optional, for review reminders you enable.

You can change permissions in iOS Settings. Denying camera or microphone access leaves text reading and suitable import options available.

Sharing, widgets and backups

Exports are shared only when you choose a destination through the system share sheet. The receiving app or service handles the exported copy under its own policies.

If you add the PageEcho widget, a small snapshot of saved material is shared with the widget through the app’s private App Group on your device. Widget content can be visible wherever you place the widget.

Your device’s backup settings may include PageEcho’s local data in Apple backups. PageEcho does not operate its own cloud backup or account system.

Analytics, advertising and tracking

PageEcho contains no advertising, third-party tracking SDKs or developer-operated analytics service. We do not collect your library, recordings, identifiers or usage history through the app. Apple may provide diagnostics and TestFlight feedback under your Apple settings and its own policies.

Keeping and deleting material

Saved material remains on your device until you delete it. You can delete individual saved items, sentences and sources in the app. Removing PageEcho removes its app container under iOS rules. Copies you exported or included in device backups must be managed separately in those destinations. Device-level settings and App Group storage are managed by iOS.

Support messages

If you contact support, we receive the email address and information you choose to send. We use that information to answer your request and troubleshoot the problem. Please avoid sending private documents or recordings unless they are necessary. Support correspondence is kept only as needed to address your request and maintain relevant support records.
